The Falling of Fall

Falling
Like a skydiver
From the clouds
Hurled about by the wind

Swaying side-to-side
Like a ballroom dancer
A smooth landing

Maybe Orange
Or Red
Or Yellow
Or all

Coloring the ground
Completely
Until they die
And turn…
And turn…
And turn…

Lament for my Savior

I am sorry for
What my life
Caused you to endure.
They say you knew.
You knew you would be
Put to death,
All because of me.
Because of me and
My hideous lies
And my impetuous iniquities.
I can’t say I
Understand why.
I can’t even say I
Can fathom what you did.
But you did it.
You let yourself hang
On that cross
Naked as the day you were born;
Ridiculed
As you surrendered your
Slain body.
All for me and
My brothers and sisters
And our evil hearts.
I picture you there,
High on Calvary,
My face flashing in your head
As the blood
Trickles teasingly
Down to your toes.
Yet, despite my
Malice and sin,
You did not flinch.
Or fly away.
You hung there
Just so that I could live,
Having faith
And trusting
That I would live for you.

Heartbroken Moon

Looking out onto Scofield Weg,
The leaves no longer there.
The moon is dull and lacking light;
It’s more than she can bear.

She begs to God, her head bent low,
For him to walk her way;
The man she’s watched so intently
Each and every new day.

She watches him leave for home,
Her requests seem but few;
That he would stop for one moment
And compliment her hue.

He stops for only a moment
And glances at the sky,
But all that goes across his mind
Is that time’s flying by.

He scurries home without a stop;
She watches every move.
Weeping and waning, in breaks her heart;
She wants a chance to prove…
