The Break-Up Song
by Lyndsay Legel '06

Jigsaw puzzle of love
The pieces so completely in tact
You came and tore the pieces apart
And left me to put my heart back together

I cried and cried when I saw your name
Written on a piece of paper
I drove every street in this town
Just looking for an answer

CHORUS
But I’m, I’m ok,I’ll learn my dance again
Because I love myself, more than I will ever love you

I gave you all the love I had
And even something I can never get back
All those nights I spent in your arms
And now I’m here lying and crying alone

I used to write your last name behind
My name just so that I could see it
I guess our plans were not the same
I wish I had known that long ago

CHORUS

BRIDGE
They say, it’s better to have loved and lost than to never, to never have loved at all
But I, I’m drowning in my bed of tears, and I don’t know if love is worth the fall

What did you mean when you said to me
That you would love me forever and always
I guess those words were empty lies
Cuz now you won’t even look my way

You said you’d come back to me in time
But now I’m seeing into your heart
I can’t hold on to a person who
Makes me feel like I’m 10 inches tall

CHORUS
