I have an addiction and it is called March Madness. Whether you are a fan or not, everyone should know by now that time of year where all the sports fanatics fill out there NCAA tournament bracket.

This year I have decided for the first time to fill out a bracket. My roommate was actually the one who made me fill the bracket out because she wanted to beat me in her Facebook group.

To be honest I had no idea what teams were good and what teams were not. All I knew is that I wanted Drake to make it to the Final Four. Sadly, that was a tough loss for my bracket.

So is there really a strategy in filling out the NCAA bracket? With so many people filling out brackets has anybody picked a perfect bracket? The answer is no. They would have to pick the “favorites” or the team that is favored to win. This does not mean just the higher seeded team.

According to the Web site vegaswatch.net, if someone was to fill out 300 million brackets, they would have a one in 23,924 chance to get a perfect bracket. If they filled one out six billion times, they would have one in 1,197 chance.

There were many exciting games leading up the Final Four. One exciting, yet bracket-crushing game that sticks out in my mind would be the Drake vs. Western Kentucky game.

The 101-99 loss for the Bulldogs was tough for me as I had them playing in the Final Four. After Drake came back from a 16-point deficit in eight minutes, it became a fun game. Then with 5.7 seconds left, Tyrone Brazelton kicked it to Ty Rodgers to sink a 26-foot 3-pointer as time expired.

The other game that comes to mind is the game that pitted Davidson against Gonzaga. Sophomore Stephen Curry led his Davidson team with 40 points. Curry hit eight out of 10 3-point shots in the second half to contribute 30 points to his total. He then hit the tiebreaker with three minutes left to lead the Wildcats to an 82-76 victory. Curry, the son of former NBA 3-point specialist Dell Curry, is just a sophomore at Davidson.

I was not much of a basketball fan until this tournament. It was so much fun watching the games and hoping the teams I had winning in my bracket would win.

Picking Drake to go to the final four could have been a mistake, but it was a great game to watch. With the championship tonight, I’m going to have to go with Memphis and hope they pull out the win against Kansas.
