Campus events are inadvertently swept under the rug from time to time, despite a student body of only around 1,800. A new Web site, set to premiere next fall, will attempt to remedy that. The site, The Circuit, is technology-focused and, like a circuit, will connect student media and events into an easy-to-access online environment. Helping to create this site are Spencer Albers, site manager; Rachel Pickhinke and Cliff Brockman, adviser. The Circuit will contain videos from WTV, live streaming of KWAR and articles from the Trumpet. Albers compared The Circuit to a site like KWWL’s, where many forms of media are utilized in one place. “Now someone will be able to read an article and then see a video relating to the story,” Albers said. “I really like the concept of bringing everything together.” This site will also include information about campus and student organization events. “We want students to make this site their homepage,” Albers said. “It will be constantly changing and current.” The architects of The Circuit refer to it as a Web community. Albers said they want to receive feedback about The Circuit, so the site can excel and mature. Students can become involved by submitting articles, pictures from an organization activity or videos to the site. Albers hopes that through this site the community will gain more awareness about what’s going on around campus. Albers and Pickhinke are working with Wartburg Web Manager Chris Knudson to develop the site. “We’re thinking about how we want it to function, then we’ll work around those needs to develop the site,” Albers said. Albers and Knudson will work on the site this summer. Albers said it is a different outlet for many students to use. The Circuit is accepting applications for an online news editor.
