KWAR is gearing up for the 14th annual KWAR marathon., KWAR will broadcast live for 89.9 hours straight at 7:06 p.m starting April 1 and ending April 5 at 1 p.m. KWAR will give out 90 prize bundles from businesses in Waverly and Cedar Falls over the course of the marathon.

“I’ll probably listen once or twice. The prizes they’re giving out sound pretty interesting,” Trevor Landers said.

A new aspect of this year’s marathon is the large number of live remote broadcasts on location. The DJs will broadcast live from the Fainting Goat Tuesday and Friday and from the Pour House on Wednesday and Thursday.

“I’m more likely to listen to KWAR now that they have a marathon,” Jess Malone said.
KWAR will also be doing live remotes from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at local businesses. The broadcasts take place from Kwikstar on Wednesday, Ziggy’s Dominos on Thursday and Family Video on Friday.

Special events are planned for the conclusion of the marathon on Saturday. KWAR will broadcast the Loras-Wartburg baseball game after the end of the marathon. KWAR will host a barbecue at the baseball game. Games will be played and prizes given away after the game.

Students can listen to the marathon in three different ways: by tuning in to 89.9 KWAR on the radio, watching it on WTV-8 or streaming it live at www.kwar.org.
