Dear Wartburg Community, Thanks so much for making the first Wartburg Feed My Starving Children pack event such an overwhelming success! We packed more than 108,000 meals for hungry people throughout the world and have raised almost $20,000. More than 540 people volunteered including Wartburg students, faculty, staff, area confirmation classes, fifth and sixth graders from St. Paul’s Lutheran School, and many community members. Special thanks to John Wuertz, Scott Sharar, and their staff for allowing us to use the maintenance building. Also special thanks to all the students who organized groups and to the Spiritual Emphasis Week committee for their additional help. Based on the amazing response from the community, we are in the preliminary planning stages to have another FMSC pack in May 2009. We look forward to further partnering with the Wartburg community and the Cedar Valley area to provide more meals for hungry people throughout the world. Again, none of this would have been possible without the generous donations and support from this community. Thank you so much! Sincerely, Randon Ruggles and Jean Buckingham |
