| Senate election results announced | ||
| Student Senate elections were held last Tuesday, September 21. | ||
| Campus Ministry Board elects representatives | ||
| Recently, the campus voted on two new additions to the Campus Ministry Board. Four first year students applied; however, only two were elected to be first year representatives on the board. | ||
| Changes made in alcohol policy | ||
| The new student handbook for this year will be available this week, and along with other policy changes, two additions were made to Wartburgs alcohol policy. If a students first alcohol violation is very serious, now the college may notify the students parents and faculty adviser. For a second violation, the students parents, adviser, and co-curricular activity director will all receive written notification of the offense. | ||
| Student enrollment on the rise | ||
| Although overall student enrollment at Wartburg did not set any all-time records this year, it did show a slight increase from previous years. For the 1999 Fall Term, 1,546 students registered, with 667 males and 879 females. This number shows a total increase of five students from 1998 Fall Term, when the enrollment total came to 1,541. Over the last five years, there has been a gradual increase in student population. Since the 1995 Fall Term, the Registrars Office has seen an increase of 141 students. As far as gender separations, Wartburg has had more females than males for the previous five years. | ||
| Class of 2003 adjusts to Wartburg life | ||
| As yet another year of school begins, another freshman class begins the journey through college. This years freshman class shared the mutual feelings that all students do as freshmen, such as missing friends and family to enjoying the freedom and independence. | ||
| Cable and Internet access available | ||
| Wartburg students and staff have been playing tug of war with technology the last couple of weeks. Computer Services and TCI have been working hard to get cable television and Internet services in all residential halls on campus. This challenge started last year when students posed the question of cable in the dorms to the Dean of Students Office. When the central admissions offices began to look into the cable services and began work with TCI, they found that it would be easy to use the same coaxial to get web services in the rooms as well. | ||
