| Vogel Library nears completion |
| Although the library has been open for use since classes
started, its not quite finished. Renovation of the old Engelbrecht Library began
last year, but because of many delays, workers are still putting the finishing touches on
everything. The library staff was supposed to be in the building by early August, but they
barely moved in before students arrived. |

| Senate to hold elections |
| The Wartburg Student Senate will hold elections Tuesday for
Fall Term representatives. |

| Wartburg adds new faculty |
| In addition to the many new students, Wartburg has added five
new faculty members for 1999-2000. |

| New vice-presidents appointed to
Wartburg staff |
| Two new vice-presidents joined the senior administrative staff
at Wartburg this summer. David Ostrander started June 1 as vice-president for
institutional advancement. Dr. Ferol Schricker Menzel was appointed vice-president for
academic affairs and dean of the faculty. |

| Professor to speak at convocation |
| Mark your calendar now for the convocation tomorrow at 9:30
a.m. in Neumann Auditorium featuring Dr. Edward Zlotkowski. He is the professor of English
at Bentley College in Waltham, Mass. The convocation on leadership, volunteerism and
service is entitled Beyond Educational Consumerism: Students as Public
Problem-Solvers. |

| Trumpet honored with first place award |
| The Wartburg Trumpet was awarded first place for Excellence in
Collegiate Journalism during 1998-1999 for weekly newspapers in a national contest
sponsored by the Society for Collegiate Journalists. |

| Excess cars cause parking shortage |
| Student parking spaces are difficult to find as a result of
this years increase in registered vehicles. |
