Habitat promotes homelessness awareness week
More than one billion people in the world live in poverty. In the United States, more than 37 million people fall below the official poverty line.

Wartburg to host media day
About 100 juniors and seniors from close to 30 high schools across Iowa and bordering states will visit Wartburg College and the communication arts department Friday to get the feel for this major.

Now, according to the American College Health Association (ACHA), this idea of safety in numbers can pose a risk that many are unaware of. Meningitis, an infection that causes swelling of the fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord, thrives in places where people are in close contact, such as a college residence hall.

Band members honored
Nineteen members of the Wartburg College Concert Bands have been chosen to be in the 1999 Iowa Collegiate All-Star Concert Band. The band consists of students from Iowa's colleges and universities. The event is held annually at Iowa State during the Iowa Music Educators Convention and the All-State Festival.
