KWAR collects food for Hunger

KWAR's Hunger Strike organizers hope to meet the success they had last year.

This year's goal of 2,000 items has been upped from last year's goal of 1,652 items, which was one for each student, faculty member and staff member.

"We even had food coming in after we met our goal, so we collected about 1800 items in 25 hours," said senior John Borleske, KWAR station manager.

They also collected over $1,100 from Student Senate and private gifts, which was not a part of the goal but still benefits the food shelves.

The DJs and staff will be broadcasting live Thursday on the Old Main lawn. Students will camp out in cardboard boxes until the goal for Waverly's Community Action Center is met.

"We hope to achieve the success we had last year, not only in collecting the items but providing attention to hunger," said
