Candidates prepare for elections
Two debates were held last week between candidates for the student body's highest positions. Voters were able to see where the campaigners stand before they take to the polls Tuesday to vote for student body president, vice-president, treasurer and recorder.

Fifteen first-year students participated in Iowa State's Fourth Annual Freshman Leadership Conference Saturday, Feb. 5.

Nominations for service awards due
Nominations are being accepted for the Seventh Annual Student Leadership and Service Awards. These awards are given to students and student groups who have displayed outstanding commitment to leadership and service to the college. The deadline for nominations is Monday, Feb. 21.

Sexual Responsibility Week observed
One of the college's finest jazz groups will perform at the Valentine's Jazz Party tonight from 7 to 8 p.m. in Centennial 1 Lounge. This party is the kick-off event for Sexual Responsibility Week.

Engaged couples prepare for marriage
Future newlyweds gathered together again Wednesday night to continue preparing for their upcoming marriages. The main focus of this weekly "Preparing for Marriage" class was the economic and financial issues couples are faced with after marriage.

Wartburg students support Luther in peaceful protest
Fifteen Wartburg students traveled to Prairie Village, Kan., last Sunday to support the Nordic Choir from Luther College and to protest the actions of the Rev. Fred Phelps. Phelps, a Kansas minister, objects to the homosexuality views held by the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA) and Presbyterian churches.
