Renaissance Faire:

During homecoming weekend, Wartburg Phi Beta Lambda members host a booth, selling rib sandwiches and chips during the Renaissance Faire. Students, alumni, and faculty attend this faire during Saturday morning of the home football game. Ten to fifteen members participate in grilling the ribs, assembling the plates, and collecting money.

State Fall Leadership Conference:

In October, PBL members from across the state have the opportunity to attend the Iowa PBL State Fall Leadership Conference. During the weekend, members travel to Des Moines to participate in workshops, take corporate visits, and network with other PBL members from across the state. Wartburg has great representation at this conference.

National Fall Leadership Conference:

In early December, PBL members from the North-Central Region have the chance to travel to a different city each year in the Midwest. During the two-day conference, members participate in special PBL workshops, attend general sessions, take business tours, and tour the city. Wartburg took four members to this year's conference!

Survival kits:

During finals weeks in December and April, Phi Beta Lambda members assemble and distribute "survival kits" for students at Wartburg. Notices are sent out to parents prior to finals and parents of students send back a check with personal message. The kits include items such as candy bars, fruit, pop, juice, microwave popcorn, Ramon noodles, granola bars, and a PBL item. PBL members form an assembly line, assemble the kits, and work together to personally deliver each one to the dorms.

Annual city trip:

Every year, Wartburg PBL members travel to a nearby city for two to three days specifically to visit businesses, tour the city, and live the "big city" life. In 1999, PBL members traveled to Chicago, visiting LaSalle National Bank, Chicago Board of Trade, Mercantile Exchange, and the Federal Reserve. Members are planning another trip to Chicago during the spring of 2001.

State (Spring) Leadership Conference:

Wartburg PBL members travel to Boone, IA, each March to participate in the State Leadership Conference. While in Boone, members compete in competitive events, elect the new state officer team, and attend social functions. Wartburg has had great representation on the state officer team over the last few years, holding the State President and Vice President positions during the last two years.

National Leadership Conference:

PBL members have the opportunity to attend the National Leadership Conference during the summer and compete in any event that they won at the state conference. This year's National Leadership Conference will be held in Orlando, FL!

Community Service:

Wartburg PBL members will be working closely with Habitat for Humanity and the Kiwanis Club of Greater Waverly this year in efforts provide members with community service opportunities.
