A soulful song shines hope into my heart
My eyes part to morning
And I listen as birds call brilliantly in the summer breeze.
Light plays on your perfectly parted lips
And the cozy yellow sunshine of a fresh day begins to warm my skin.
The white cloud of our bed wraps itself around us as we lay still,
attempting to avoid the day awaiting us on the other side of the bedroom door.
The dew from the night before still hangs itself on the screen door of our balcony
the way ivy clings to the wooden trellis.
A wave rolls in, tipped white with foam and new beginnings.
The beach is out of sight from where we lay,
but the thunderous crash of water against sand and rock resonates in the silence.
Then, all I can hear is your steady breathing
and your heart beating beneath my ear.
