This Air

This air
Filled with particles
Random particles that
float innocently
A soothing current of
peace and tranquility
Until suddenly sparked
By a lie
Or a truth
Moved into action…

This action creates another…

A vicious cycle
Of act and react
Acting now to bring about
Retribution
This air
no longer moving
for a cause

This air
Now filled with anxiety
Speeding up
Heating up
Faster and faster
Particles of hatred and hypocrisy
Bouncing off and swerving by
Each other
Forgetting the truth
Of their similarities
And co-dependencies

And give
What would I
What should I
To at last
have this air
be mollified
to slow down
to acknowledge
and forgive
to return to the beginning

But not now
Not this air

Not this air that has consumed
And is consuming
Enclosing around
And suffocating
that which stands against it

What would I give
What I would give
To stop breathing
To stop inhaling
To stop reciprocating
This air
