Rain

There is something about rain
Pouring down on the soul
Running beneath clothing
To glide across naked skin
There is peace in the rain
A silence beyond its fall
Emptiness within the smell
Of earth, musty and true
Something in the chill touch of nature
Sliding on the skin
Replacing the need for thought
And leaving emotions to the void
If I could survive an infinite storm
I would stand forever in the rain
My humanity forgotten
An immortal being frozen in time
But rain, like me, is mortal
And even it must end.
