There was a big and nasty war
when a crazy man did punish
all those that did not do his wish;
who Americans now deplore.
We did not get there fast enough,
and then too many of you died.
You worked and starved and some did fry,
reduced to less than life; so rough.
Later you fought and fought and fight.
By rules of war you won your land,
your own soil and water and sand.
You worked to reach your worldly height.
And we are proud of you this day,
we send you cash to help you grow.
And grow you do, but do we know
how much you fight to get your way?
Did you forget O Israel
how much it hurts to be oppressed?
To work for naught and get no rest?
You keep them down and do not tell,
that they are held under your law.
And we strive for justice for all,
forgetting that a land so small
forgets the horror that they saw
and hurts their neighbors all around
with jets and guns supplied by us.
To justify we make a fuss
of suff’ring Jews in war who frown.
