■
past |
My family is
the most important part of my life, so it fits that they should
be mentioned first in this section. My mom, Lori, is a
person who I truly admire as she has been my best friend in
life. My dad, Gregg, is my rock and person who I turn to
for advice in tough situations. I have a twin sister,
Courtney, who is and will always be my best friend. I have
a younger brother, Michael, who is growing up to be a great
young man, and he is a kid that I absolutely adore.
Although I
was born in St. Paul, MN, my family has moved all over the
Midwest, including Minnesota and Nebraska, before finally
settling down in West Des Moines, IA. Throughout all of
the different relocations, I have realized that I am able to
assimilate into any new environment, which is in part the reason
that I am the person that I am today.

■
present |
I am
currently a senior at
Wartburg College, as a
communication arts major,
with an emphasis in public relations. I have a minor in
both Spanish and
leadership. I
am involved in many different activities, but 2 activities have
had incredible meaning to me during my time at Wartburg, those
being
cheerleading and
mentoring in the
Big Brothers Big Sisters
program.
I have been
a football cheerleader for 3 years and a men's and women's
basketball cheerleader for 4 years. Cheering at Wartburg
has taught me a lot about leadership in a team atmosphere.
As a leader, it is important to understand and utilize each
member's talents to the benefit of the squad when putting
together a routine. If each girl feels she has a part in
the routine, the final product is much more successful, much
like working in any team atmosphere to accomplish a goal.
I am
entering my second year as a mentor in the Big Sisters Big
Brothers program. What began as a service project in order
to live in upperclassman housing, grew into much more. As
a student, I am surrounded by peers and professors looking at
future deadlines and goals, however, as a mentor, I have the
opportunity to get a different perspective on life from my
little sister. She lives in the moment, which is a
refreshing outlook on life. I cherish our time together as
much as she does.
All of who I
am today is preparing me for who I will be in the future. |

■
future |
As a
senior, people are constantly inquiring about my goals and
aspirations for the future. I am currently employed by
Pella Corp., in
Pella, Iowa. I am very excited about working for an
organization that is dedicated to teamwork and leadership, two
qualities that I believe a company must posses as a leadership
minor. I graduate in May 2008, and will begin working for
Pella Corp., immediately thereafter.
