Text Box:  Football          I have been a member of the Wartburg College football team all four years I have been in college.  I am a four year letter winner and three year starter.  Last season I was named first team all Iowa Conference.  I achieved this accomplishment with the help of my teammates, coaches, good work ethic, attitude, and hard work.         This season I was named a team captain.  My responsibilities as a player have changed because of this and it has been more important for me to be a leader.  So far this season we are 8-1 and 7-0 in the Iowa Intercollegiate College Conference.  We are ranked #12 in the nation and trying to reach our goals of conference champions and make the national playoffs.         In June of 2007 I went on a trip to Germany with the Wartburg Football team.  There were almost 50 players and coaches and we also played a game against a German football team.  The trip was over a week and mostly all in the Bavarian state of Germany.  It was a great experience to see another culture and I learned a lot from this experience.   Service Trip         I was fortunate enough to be able to join a group of approximately 15 students on a service trip to New Orleans in April of 2007.  We went to New Orleans to help rebuild from the devastating Hurricane Katrina.  The trip lasted a week and we accomplished a lot in the homes we worked on.  The jobs we did consisted of sanding, mudding, putting up dry wall, texturing walls, painting walls, and painting a house.  We stayed in a church in New Orleans for the whole trip and there were also odd jobs around the church that we did everyday.  I really enjoy giving my time and effort to people that truly need it and I this service trip is something I will cherish forever. I have also helped out with Habitat for Humanity, Bremwood Lutheran School, and the Waterloo Food Bank.
