My name is Foday Sulaiman Kargbo and I am from Sierra Leone, West Africa. I am a senior at Wartburg College majoring in Accounting and Finance.  I am the last of three children, all of whom are boys.  My interests include soccer and music and athletics all of which I have always participated in.

Due to political instability in my country, my family and I moved to Ghana in 2000, where I started my working experience whilst pursuing high school education. I worked as a convenient store manager for the four years I was there. On completing high school, I went back to Sierra Leone and worked for two months as a petty cashier in a Children’s Organisation NGO. As a junior at Wartburg College, I had the privilege of interning at the Wartburg College Controllers Office as an Account Clerk, where I was given the opportunity to apply the accounting concepts learned in class, in a real business situation. 

After graduation, I desire to pursue postgraduate studies in the field of Accounting. Preferably, a Master’s in Accountancy. With this degree, I hope to pursue a career in Corporate Accounting of Corporate Finance. Though I will accept a job in any location if the working conditions are good, I will prefer to work in a bigger city with an urban setting.

As a Business/Accounting student, I have familiarised myself with some of the key software used in a Business environment, such as MS word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Access, Internet and e-mail software. However, my most important achievement so far in the struggle towards my Accounting/Financial career is the acquisition of the internship at the Wartburg College Controllers office which gave me a firsthand experience of the whole accounting reporting process.

I believe the materials learned in class combined with the skills acquired in both my positions as an accounting Clerk and a Petty Cahier have increased my competency, not only in the field of accounting but also in the area of leadership and international perspective of the business world as a whole.
