    What Singers is all about

Today, the group offers an entertaining program of vocal jazz. Accompanied by a rhythm section, the group specializes in all types of vocal jazz music, from early swing to avant garde. Members of the Castle Singers are chosen by audition and represent many of the college's more than 50 academic majors. The Castle Singers perform at events on and off-campus. The group makes annual one-week concert tours in the United States and regularly travels abroad during the college's one-month May Term.

    Positions held in Singers

At the beginning of the year 2006/2007, I became of member of the Castle Singers Jazz choir and I have been in it ever since. I have grown a lot since I was auditioned into this group and I now hold two positions in the group. This year I was elected to the Activities Coordinator position and I also became a member of the groups council. As the coordinator, I am in charge of planning activities/bonding experiences for the singers. This year the whole group went ice skating and then we had a lock in at a local church. Along with that, as a member of the council I act as a liaison between our conductor and the group.

    What senate it all about

Student Senate is the governing body of the Wartburg College student body. Senators are elected from each floor on campus to represent that floor and individual students on legislation and issues that are brought before the Senate. Senate is the "voice" of the student body. It works to enhance communication between students, faculty and staff, and represent our community through leadership and service.

    Positions held in Senate

In May of 2007, I was elected into the May term senate and my term from there carries over into this year. Although I have only been in Senate for a short period of time, I have really learned a lot. Along with being a general member of senate, I am a member of the student relations committee. The job of the student relations committee is to look into campus issues, speak to constituents about their opinions and concerns, and consider these opinions in the new policies implemented by senate.
