My name is Miquela Sue Bancroft and I am currently a 3rd year at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. I am majoring in Business Administration with a concentration in marketing. I am a Wartburg Presidential Scholar and currently have a 3.1/4.0 GPA. I was born and raised in Clear Lake, a small town in North Central Iowa. I grew up in a tight knit family and they have continued to remain a central part of my life today. I attended Clear Lake High School and graduated in May of 2005. Coming from a class of 112, I had the chance to be many different activities. I was involved in volleyball, basketball, softball, track, dance team, and cheerleading. My junior year I was apart of the 4x200 meter relay team that made it to the state track meet. I was also on the competition cheerleading squad, which competed at state and received a fifth place trophy. I was a part of Circle of Friends, which is involved in helping the students in Clear Lake that participate in Special Olympics. I tutored a middle school student, along with helping out in a special education gym class. I taught a three-year-old Sunday school class, helped in a summer tutoring program in July 2006, and stayed involved in my youth group at Zion Lutheran Church, also in Clear Lake. I had the opportunity to go on two mission trips while in high school. One was to Juarez, Mexico and the other was to Key West, Florida. These were two of the most life changing experiences I have had thus far. Upon graduation in 2005, I chose to attend Wartburg College because of the many opportunities available to me. In my three years here, I have participated in the different intramural sports that are offered. I was also involved in the Unified Sports Day that happens once a year on Wartburg's campus. This is a program which is a smaller, comparable version to Special Olympics. Not only are there opportunities on campus, but there are many opportunities for studying abroad. I had the amazing opportunity to travel to Paris, France in May 2007 for my foreign language credit. While there we took French class, as well as learning about the French culture and touring the city. I love traveling and will be going to Brazil in May 2008 for my Religion course. I am also looking forward to the Summer of 2008 because I will be doing an internship at Wartburg West in Denver, Colorado.
